Cadet Orientation Rides Information

Requesting Cadet Orientation Rides:

  1. Check available dates on this website calendar, Sundays and Tuesdays.

  2. Send an email to michael.petran@cawgcap.org to request a specific date.

    • Note: Generally, a squadron will be allowed to schedule one day a month. 

Before coming out to Los Alamitos for Cadet Orientation Rides:

  1. Cadets should take both the "Wing Runner Course" and "Aircraft Handling Course" available in eServices.

  2. Send a copy of the "Cadet Orientation Flights" report to michael.petran@cawgcap.org. Steps to run the report are listed below:

    1. Login to "eServices".

    2. Goto "Menu/Operations Qualifications".

    3. Select "Ops Quals".

    4. Select "Reports".

    5. Select "Orientation Flights".

    6. Select your "Organization".

    7. Click "View Report".

    8. Retrieve and send the file from your "Download" folder.

Day of Cadet Orientation Rides:

  1. Items to bring:

  • CAPID Card

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • Hats

  • Food/water

  • Weather appropriate clothing with Civil Air Patrol (CAP) identification on it (ABUs are not recommended, but can be worn).

  • NO BOOTS

2. Arrive by the specified time (Sundays - 1000Hrs, Tuesdays - 1200Hrs) and check in at the office.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can GA aircraft land there?  No, but if you are in a corporate aircraft, special arrangements could be made.
